Party Ideology

LOKNAYAK JAYAPRAKASH NARAYAN

Rashtriya Janata Dal locates itself in the collective aspirations of people and communities striving to carve out a society based on the premises of social justice and secularism. Since its inception Rashtriya Janata Dal is relentlessly working as the voice of the socially and economically downtrodden sections of the society. The RJD believes in working on and propagating socialist politics and towards this end the party has been developing solidarity network of landless labourers, peasants and farmers other weaker groups as well as progressive people from other sections of society. Drawing inspiration from Gandhian values as well as following in the great tradition of the socialist leaders, RJD strongly stands against communalism in any form. The party believes that the right of peaceful and democratic dissent including Satyagraha/ non-violent resistance is a fundamental right of the people.

RJD as a political organisation follows the guiding ideas of Late Sh. JayaPrakash Narayan lovingly and poularly known as JP or Loknayak. Following in the footsteps of the great socialist visionary, RJD has the impeccable faith that translation of constitutional ideals of ‘sovereign, socialist, democratic and secular republic’ into reality requires enduring vigilance and struggle at grassroots. JP’s recitation of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’s wonderfully evocative lines: Singhasan Khaali Karo Ke Janata Aaati Hai and his ‘Do or Die’ spirit remains an inspiration for the RJD in its struggle for social upliftment of the poor, backward, minorities and other socially weaker sections of society.

RJD has emerged as an active political party with a modern and progressive outlook and its history so far is integrally linked to the principles of secularism, social justice and an inclusive development for all.
