Rashtriya Janata Dal locates itself in the collective aspirations of people and communities striving to carve out a society based on the premises of social justice and secularism. Since its inception Rashtriya Janata Dal is relentlessly working as the voice of the socially and economically downtrodden sections of the society. The RJD believes in working on and propagating socialist politics and towrds this end the party has been developing solidarity network of landless labourers, peasants and farmers other weaker groups as well as progressive people from other sections of society. Drawing inspiration from Gandhian values as well as following in the great tradition of the socialist leaders, RJD strongly stands against communalism in any form. The party believes that the right of peaceful and democratic dissent including Satyagraha/ non-violent resistance is a fundamental right of the people.
RJD, as a political party in India has a very strong support in the state of Bihar. It has been continuously evolving in the vanguard to speak for an egalitarian society committed to progressive and secular outlook in governance as well as everyday life. As of now Sh. Lalu Prasad is the national president whereas Dr. Ramchandra Purve is the State President. The leaders of opposition are Md Abdul Bari Siddqui in the legislative assembly and Shri Ghulam Gauss is in the legislative council.
RJD has the most number of followers in Bihar and has a bright future in the upcoming elections.
Any person of age 18 or above, who believes in the objectives and values of the RJD and is not a member of any other political or communal organization which has separate membership and a separate constitution and who does not participate in the activities of such organization, can become a Primary member of the RJD on filling the Membership ‘Form’ and paying a nominal subscription fee of Rs. 5/- only.
